tagged again!

January 30, 2006

life has been a bit crazy since my husband was injured in a farm accident. we are so thankful, that my little boy was there to call for help & that even though the damage looks bad – at least the bones weren’t affected. which is amazing when you consider what happened. michael’s fingers are healing & he will be OK. the story made the front page of the local paper – it looks like the ambulance service will give bear an award for bravery. sooo proud of him! here they are with the ambo driver who helped on the day of the accident:

Thea: Woohooo... Michael (and Bear) are Cover Boys!!!! Talk soon xT

Samantha Dorn: Both of your guys look pretty good for their experience. I hope Michael recovers quickly and things aren't too stressful for you. I enjoyed reading your tag - we have a lot in common.

donna’s class – week 2

January 18, 2006

in donna’s class this week, we scrapped a whole year of photos on one LO. this was a fun project for me! since going digital, i process & print photos as i need them, so we have a whole lot less photos lying around. it was great to go back, look at the photos & relieve the memories. donna gave us some sketch options to use & at 1st i was going to try something different. but i liked her sketch – so i used it for these year in review LO’s for madi & bear.  i scrapped a whole year of photos donna!! yahhhh! :)

steph caskey-devlin: OMG. Someone who is obsessed about ALIAS as much as I am. What a show...Vaughn rocks. Been ages Charliegh, haven't chatted since ISC. Love your gorgeous work - Im in envy of the artistry of your images. S.

OK so i know its not tuesday! but last week i mentioned self portrait tuesday – the theme this month is personal history & this morning i finally had a chance to play with some images. i had a vision of layering them & showing the full circle from when i was born til when my DD was born – but i decided to include a recent family portrait too. its the first time i’ve done a montage like this & i love how all the images are connected. i was also inspired by keisha‘s work to experiment with some gorgeous swirly brushes (you can find them here). although its not exactly what i imagined, it was such fun & i’m really happy with how it turned out!

Selfportraittuesday_jan06_1

images are: mum & i at my christening, my childhood home, me at age 5 (same age as my DD is now), my wedding day, my DD & i and a recent family portrait.

Thea: Looks great Charleigh. Madi definitely looks like you at that age- but I can see a 'semblance between Bear in the latest photo and you when you 5 as well. You were a very pretty bride!

Julie LOVE: Charleigh this looks awesome!!! JULIEx

:) AL.: Your montage is gorgeous Charleigh!!! I love the brushes effect - lol I need how to locate the ones I have downloaded before I can learn how to use them *wink* Take care, :) AL.

Chris M: Charleigh, what a great combination of photos! Love this idea!

emily falconbridge: this is awesome! how clever you are, such a cool idea!

studio friday: eye spy more!

January 15, 2006

another one! we were making pancakes this morning & one was a bit runny & ran out the top. my DD said that she spied a sheep shape. at first, i didn’t see it, but then she pointed out the shape of the ears & the face … & we all saw she was right! DH added strawberry eyes … can you see it?

Studiofriday_eyespy_sheep

this afternoon, my DD was up her climbing tree & scraped her knee. bear came & said madi "had blood on her" so i went to take a look … fortunately she was OK & it was only a tiny bit of blood but i couldn’t help noticing that where the blood had smeared, it looked like a heart!!

Studiofriday_eyespy_heart

i had such fun with this challenge – thanks so much to everyone who’s stopped by & commented! be sure to check out studio friday to see what other artists spied this week!

Alison S: Yes I can see it! Just needs that little black nose to finish the picture. Clever girl your daughter with a lovely imagination. Alison PS Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog.

Julie LOVE: I CAN SEE IT!!! and it certainly does look like a sheep LOL JULIEx

Chris M: Hi Charleigh! What a gorgeous banner you have on your blog! Before I read your post I would have said it was a rabbit with one flippy floppy ear!LOL Thanks for visiting my blog too and I'm glad I know where yours is so I can come and have a read! Chris.

kathy hamlet: What beautiful photographs!Having a heart on your wound has got to be a good sign - especially compared to having a wound on your heart! Kathy

emily falconbridge: i can see them, i can see them!!! i just LOVE this concept, it is SO COOL and totally made me smile! your photography is amazing!

studio friday: eye spy

January 14, 2006

found this quote on the very talented liz eaton’s blog:

don’t wait for inspiration. take action! action generates inspiration" ~ frank tiblet

it totally inspired me – so that’s what i did today – took action!

the theme at studio friday this week is eye spy & at first, i wasn’t sure what i’d find. then i walked into the kithchen & spied this next to the toaster:

Studiofriday_jan13b_4

there’s a little house in the breadcrumbs – how cool is that? can you see it?? amazing what you can see when you look at the world with fresh eyes! BTW, i shared these with my DH & lets just say he didn’t see what i saw – LOL!

#2 lots of clouds today (a nice looking summer sky!) & i happened to spy this chubby flying angel amongst them:

Studiofriday_jan13c_2

& i”ve got a few LO ideas buzzing round my head – hoping to scrap them tonite!

emily falconbridge: ok, this is driving me insane - i cannot see the house!!! what is wrong with me? i so badly want to see it - i love this concept! love the cloud photo - its amazing! (is it meant to look like something?!!)

:) AL.: lol, I got the house in the breadcrumbs (the 3 big bits making up the 3 corners of the roof), but no chubby flying angel :)

Alison S: I must be tuned into the same wavelength as you (freaky hey)because I can see the house and the chubby angel. This is so much fun. Thanks for sharing these Charleigh. Alison

suejade: Ok I must be in a creative mood because I can see both the house and the cherub too!

one of the things i intend to do in 2006 is experiment, explore & create things – just for the fun of it!! so when i saw ali’s post about studio friday & its theme – uniforms, i was keen to give it a go! keen to try to capture a little bit of me. the idea of getting a peek into other artists studio is such fun don’t you think?! its a bit late, but i hope its OK to play! :)

so here’s my uniform & a peek in my *studio* (a very loose term for where i create!) … at home, i usually wear something comfy like these cocoa yoga pants & a t-shirt & you’ll always find me wearing joggers (its a flylady thing – shoes tell your brain its time to work!). ATM they’re nikes – not that i’m fussy about brands, i just buy whatever feels most supportive & comfortable at the time. i used to be a barefoot girl – but by the end of the day my feet & legs would ache & if i had to dash outside for whatever reason, my soft girly feet didn’t like the hot gidgea stones! yikes! so getting dressed to my shoes is one flylady routine that was easy to get used to!

Studiofriday_uniformsweb

here are some more sites that have me inspired:

self portrait tuesday: the theme this month is personal history & its the next project on my to do list!

52 projects: here’s their blurb … its a site dedicated to thinking outside the craft. It’s all about projects and project-making. Project ideas, projects to create, projects to check out, and projects to participate in. DIY projects, homemade projects, writing projects, photo projects, projects, projects, projects… And more projects. LOTS of fun stuff!

i’m reading simple abundance (again!) & loved this quote:

there is no duty we so much underrate as the duty of being happy. by being happy we sow anonymous benefits upon the world ~ robert louis stevenson

so true – something to be mindful about.

there are storms around this afternoon – not much rain here – yet! hoping its not too far away!

Lee Woodside: Oh thanks heaps Charleigh for the links!

Thea: ... plus you can go for a walk when you have joggers on!! Lovin the photos and the blog C! Will do some green care packages for you this weekend? :-) xT

:) AL.: HEY!!!!! you gotta yourself one of those blogs lol :) - hi Charleigh! :) AL.

Alison S: I'm so glad you have a blog Charleigh. I love your photography and have been a fan for a while. Thanks for the links today. 52 projects seems cool. Alison

Carrie Romero: Welcome to SF! I am a long time lurker, but newbie poster also. I am a flybaby too, for a few years now and still trying to find my wings! Wearing shoes is my #1 problem...just can't do that part! Love your planner on your desk - are you in Donna Downey's BPS class?
